1977 Heating and Cooling

Did you know back in 1977 a mechanical engineer who specialized in energy conservation in buildings, Laurence Spielvogel at that time showed how home builders could cut HVAC energy loss by 20 to 40 %?

P Eng. Spielvogel has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Drexel University, 1962 and he was an Assistant post engineer at the Walter Reed Medical Center, Washington, 1963-1965; an engineer for the Utility Survey Corporation, Chicago, 1965-1966; and an associate, Werden & Association, Inc., Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, 1959-1970; later he started his own consulting practice as a principal, Lawrence G. Spielvogel, Inc., King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, since 1970.

According to him, one of the best methods of reducing the amount of energy used by climate control equipment is through the use of zoning.

Fast forward to 2022, why are not most homes built with zoning?
